The first time we meet will be about getting to know each other and deciding what we are going to do and how we are going to do it. After that we move at your pace, to get you towards where you want to be in your life.
My style of working aims to bring all elements of being human into therapy. This may be done through the use of art, writing, dreams, visualisations, body awareness or miniature model work as well as the more familiar talking approach. I believe that everyone is unique, and so each session is built around what you, personally, may find useful or enjoyable.
Sometimes I may set some 'homework' or a challenge to try before the next session but this is always discussed first.
You may feel your issue is too difficult or overwhelming to even begin to deal with but as Henry Ford once said, "Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs". Each session will be a chance to work on whatever you choose to bring to therapy.
Ideally, all sessions will take place at the same time and on the same day each week and a standard session will last one hour. The price per session may be negotiable if a commitment to a block of at least 8 sessions is made. Normally 24 hours notice is required if a session cannot be attended for any reason, however, any un-notified absences will incur a charge.
All information remains confidential within boundaries outlined in a statement of confidentiality that you will be given at the start of the first session.
